I am really grateful and privileged that my job allows me to learn more about people’s investment activities. And those learnings cover 3 simple facts that you would want to know.
Fact #1: Most retails underperform against the market.
Fact #2: Retails underperform because they make preventable investing mistakes over and over and over again.
Fact #3: They make the mistakes over and over and over again because they don’t know that those are mistakes. They think that that is the norm. It feels right for me to behave this way with regard to my investments.
It’s really like us binge drinking coca-cola every day and we wonder: hmmm why is my bloody sugar level seem to be unhealthily high? Why am I pre-diabetic?
Is it because of the Coca-cola? It cannot be (sarcasm), I drink it religiously after my meals!
This is what I believe
If you become self-aware to recognise these mistakes,
You cannot unsee them
You will be better than 99.9% of investors who don’t know that they are binge drinking that coca-cola and wondering why they are pre-diabetic
Which gives you a natural competitive edge. And yeah (un)fortunately, only very few of you will take it seriously. But I don’t mind. Even if 1 person becomes more self-aware for what I have to share, I am already more than satisfied.
Do I expect everybody who are aware of these mistakes be really good investors? No.
Do I expect everybody to be shredded with 6-pack abs after they know that the secret to fat loss is calorie deficit? Of course not. There are still so many knowledgeable overweight people out there. Just saying facts here.
But I do wish that for those who do become more self-aware that at the very least that they will not commit the mistakes we are about to discuss. Again, if it is valuable to one person, the video has already served its purpose. Enjoy!
