Saya TOP UP terus BMRI, karena dengan pertumbuhan earning yang cukup bagus ditengah tekanan yield SBN yang terus naik, nilai tukar rupiah yang terus turun, potensi NPL yang nambah dan staglasi karena dilepasnya subsidi energi. Harga BMRI saat ini memberi margin Of safety yang sangat lebar.

Yeah it seems to me buying big banks was considered prudent at the time. Very similar feeling like buying low cost index funds is said to be prudent nowadays.

My humble view is that those experiencing drawdowns seem to be given a huge learning opportunity to understand the importance of risk and diversification :)

Nice overview and background on investments in Indonesian banks. I don’t personally buy shares in Indonesian banks, but I still think about them from time to time. Why? One of my holdings, Ekadharma International, has used quite a lot of its excess cash to buy bank stocks, among other things such as bonds and fixed-income instruments.

I suppose they did what seemed prudent at the time, though perhaps not what turned out to be wise, given how bank stocks have performed. Still, owning banks at current levels should be relatively safe, I think - and I hope they have learned from their mistakes. Will continue to follow the banks (indirectly) and I hope that better times are ahead.
